Q1 2021: new launches and features update

What’s been going on at Boku over the past few months? Here’s a quick overview of new telcos connected to Boku’s platform and product improvements we’ve been working on.

New connections

The following telcos are now available on Unified SDK:

• Italy: Wind 3 (33% market share)
• Sri Lanka: Hutch (19% market share)
• United Kingdom: O2 (31% market share)

• Italy: Wind 3 (33% market share)
• Sri Lanka: Hutch (19% market share)
• Tunisia: Tunisie Telecom (25% market share)
• United Kingdom: O2 (31% market share)

Unified SDK product improvements

Unified SDK gives merchants access to Fortumo’s direct carrier billing and digital wallet connections while the checkout flow is managed by Fortumo. This makes launching multiple payment channels through one integration simple and scalable.

During Q1, the following features were added to Unified SDK:

• Enabled multi-language support for payment confirmation messages. In bi-lingual countries, confirmation messages are now set to the same language which the user chose for the payment flow
• Limited the number of times the user can reset their MSISDN for fraud prevention purposes
• Added new Authorisation Info API which can be used for fetching information on a specific authorisation and checking the validity of the token.

Trident Bundling Platform improvements

Boku’s Trident Bundling Platform lets streaming services (VOD, music, cloud gaming) easily set up multiple bundle and reselling offers with telcos (mobile operators, TV and STB providers, ISP-s) through one integration. During Q1, the following features were added to the Bundling Platform:

• Added support for JWT callback signing

General improvements

• For merchants using Unified SDK, added overview of live connections to Boku Dashboard’s Connections tab next to the previously visible available connections overview

New research

• Our global market report looks at direct carrier billing performance in 2020 across the Boku platform
• The white paper on digital wallets gives a brief introduction to the importance of digital wallets for merchants and overcoming the challenges in launching them
